I Built This Because I Needed It to Exist
My name is Ayoko. I am a single mother, a woman who has survived things that were not supposed to be survivable, and someone who spent years confusing endurance with healing.
I did not start The Soft Strength Project because I had it figured out.
I started it because I kept finding the same thing in every healing space I entered: pressure. Perform your healing. Forgive faster. Be grateful. Speak it into existence. Stay positive.
None of it matched what I was actually living.
What I was living looked like exhaustion that sleep could not fix. Hypervigilance that felt like just being “on edge.” Relationships that drained me because I was still running the survival patterns I had learned in chaos. A body that had been in fight-or-flight so long it had forgotten what safety felt like.
I needed a space that told the truth about what healing actually looks like — not the Instagram version, but the Tuesday afternoon version. The version where you are doing the work and it is still hard and you are still here anyway.
That is what this space is.
Who I Am
I have ADHD, anxiety, and a history of complex stress that took me years to name clearly. I am a mother to a brilliant, neurodivergent son who teaches me something new every single day. I am a woman who has rebuilt — and is still rebuilding — after relationships, circumstances, and systems that were designed to deplete me.
I am not a licensed therapist. I am not going to pretend I have credentials I do not have.
What I do have is lived experience, a deep commitment to trauma-informed frameworks, and a belief that the women who are exhausted from surviving deserve a place that meets them where they actually are — not where someone thinks they should be by now.
What Soft Strength Means
Soft strength is not passive. It is not quiet compliance or spiritual bypass.
Soft strength is the ability to stay regulated, discerning, and grounded under pressure. It is knowing the difference between a boundary and a wall. It is rebuilding self-trust after someone — or multiple someones — systematically dismantled it. It is choosing yourself without performing it for anyone.
It is the strength that does not announce itself. The kind that holds.
What You Will Find Here
- Nervous system regulation — understanding why your body responds the way it does, and how to work with it instead of against it
- Narcissistic abuse recovery — naming patterns like love bombing, emotional extraction, flying monkeys, and proxy conflict so you can see them clearly
- Boundaries and self-trust — not as a performance, but as a practice
- Rebuilding after high-conflict relationships — including co-parenting with difficult partners and recovering your sense of self after chronic invalidation
- ADHD and mental health in motherhood — the intersection nobody talks about honestly
- Soft body, strong mind — healing your relationship with your body after years of chronic stress
This is not a fix-yourself space. This is a return-to-yourself space.
A Note on What This Space Is Not
This is not therapy. Please work with a licensed professional if you are in crisis or need clinical support.
This space does not offer toxic positivity, spiritual bypassing, or forced forgiveness timelines. If you came here looking for someone to tell you that you need to “let it go” — this is not that place.
This is a place for the slow, honest, grounded work.
